Large Piece of Hare

A few weeks ago I bought a plastic rabbit in a Museum in Dresden. When I arrived home I noticed a small inscription on the side of the piece and by mere curiosity I decided to google it. To my surprise, what i thought to be just a 3D representation of Durer's "Young Hare" actually turned out to be  a work of art by German artist Ottmar Horl!

The artist does large installations of sculptures in public places - mainly squares. Amongst my other favorite pieces are the "Praying Dwarf" and "One Should not Kill the Chicken that Lays Golden Eggs".

New Artwork!

Since I joined Juna Studio all my work goes directly into their portfolio and I'm not aloud to post it anywhere... Last week I sent some artwork submissions to two different publications though and these designs I can share! Both books will be about surface pattern design and I hope to be one of the featured designers.

Here is some of the work I sent! It's available for licensing!

Papel de Coração

Last year I participated on a wallpaper design contest. Three of my designs were chosen to be part of a 10 pattern wallpaper collection for the portuguese brand Amo.te! Last week the collection was inaugurated in Lisbon at the brand's Concept Store. Unfortunately, as I am still in the Czech Republic accompanying my boyfriend, I wasn't able to attend.

Here is a photo of the exhibition and the chosen designs.

Drops Pattern - Now in Stores!

The pattern "Drops" that I sold to Paperchase has finally hit the stores! Bowie from Print and Pattern sent me theses photos of some perspex acrylic file trays that she spotted at a Paperchase store in London. I'm so happy! Thank you Bowie! I can't wait to see what else they have produced with my design!

Vintage Love

I'm in love with these art glass hanging lamps I spotted at an antiques shop here in Prague. My favorite is the biggest one of course! They were produced in the Czech Republic around the 60's or 70's of the last century. They are asking 14000Kc for the biggest one, which in Euros is about 482.77€. I know nothing about vintage prices so I have no idea if it is a good deal or not! Also, we don't pay taxes here on purchases over 250€ so we would probably be refunded for the 19% VAT. :) Should I buy it or not?

In Prague

I've just moved to the Czech Republic last week, to the lovely city of Prague to be more exact. My boyfriend was stationed here at the Portuguese Embassy for 6 months and I came along with him! I'm still getting used to the very cold weather (about -2 Cº during the day) and so these are a few pictures I could take before my hands froze!

The city is beautiful and full of precious architectural details. Everything looks even more beautiful when it snows!

I couldn't get my hands around a new laptop yet because I thought of buying it here - as the currency is lower - and didn't realize the keyboard would be Czech! Silly me! I still have to solve that problem with the Apple store... Until then, no work for me. :( Enjoy!

The 2 pictures above are of the view from our apartment!

Best Football Player in the World!

I'm also quite happy today because yesterday Cristiano Ronaldo was awarded by Fifa the prize for the "Best Player in The World 2008". I'm not very fond of football but as a Portuguese I am very proud of my fellow compatriot! Congratulations Cristiano! I hope you continue to make us proud for years and years to come!

Thank you Print & Pattern!

Today I would like to thank Bowie over at Print & Pattern for showcasing my work once again! She is such a nice girl! It’s an honour to be featured on one of my favourite and daily reads.

By the way, Bowie is putting up together a Print and Pattern Book which I’m sure is going to be great and packed with the cutest patterns! Can’t wait to have one!
